Hellenic System Protagoras (ESyProta)

Greek small enterprises are mainly based on the abilities of their founders, who are often able to fulfill all the positions of their enterprise. If the small-businessman will be helped to increase his abilities and his knowledge, then he will possess overwhelming advantages over foreign big enterprises. This is so because big enterprises, based on industrial standards, provide products and services with employees who need not to master special capabilities and knowledge on the one hand and on the other they cannot share the personal touch which is necessary in human relations.

The Hellenic System Protagoras under the distinguishing title (ESyProta) aims in helping the small-businessman to increase his abilities through training, through utilization of his machinery and of his knowledge, and through rationalization of his activities. That is, ESyProta is adapted to Greek conditions, to the sizes and needs of domestic small and medium enterprises. It has been planned so that it will fulfill and cover vacancies appearing in the application of international quality systems in Greece. Meaning it could be directly effective, either by being applied separately, or as a preliminary step of application of an international quality system.

ESyProta is distinguished by the following basic principles:

    • It is local, not international.
    • It utilises standardization which is a product of on-the-job application.
    • It exploits the advantages of industrialization, preserving, on the same time, the human character of business.
    • It does not stop developing, but its shaping is, also, being continued during its application.
    • It is being created by the participation of all interested parties.
    • It aims to prepare not only small/medium businesses for a healthy competition, but their environment as well, so that collaborations and coalitions will be possible.
    • It creates the requirements for linking Production (of every size) with Education and Research, as well as with Administration.
